Sugar Cookie Martini Recipe | Wine Enthusiast

To those who remain skeptical of TikTok as a means of cocktail discovery, we ask: Have you heard of the Prosecco-spiked Negroni Sbagliato? The emerald-hued Grinch Cocktail? If you answered “yes” to any of the above, you’re in for a surprise. The social media platform is responsible for the recent explosive prominence of both drinks—so maybe hop on the TikTok bandwagon already, okay? You’re just in time for another heavy-hitter: the Sugar Cookie Martini, a milky, vodka-and-amaretto spiked reimagining of the classic Christmas cookie.

Creators across the platform are getting into holiday mode by whipping up their versions of the sweetened sipper. Putting up some impressive numbers is @bevsbybeverly, whose interpretation has so far induced half a million users to pound the “like” button. (Yes, really—people are serious about cocktails on TikTok!) Also in the mix? Renditions by @juleswarner at nearly 40K likes, @cocktails at 120K and @champagneang at 114K likes.

The big takeaway? People are loving this drink. The hallmarks seem to be a creamy consistency reminiscent of eggnog; glugs of vanilla-scented vodka, almond-forward amaretto and some sort of cream-based liqueur; and—perhaps most importantly—a festive rim of vanilla frosting and Christmas-themed sprinkles. All served in a martini glass, of course.

Naturally, Assistant Editor Jacy Topps had to whip up a Wine Enthusiast-approved version for us. She opts for whole milk for extra richness, though any milk will do—non-dairy options included. Topps also recommends using an Irish cream such as Baileys, which offers a hint of chocolate, plus a nutty amaretto like Disaronno.

Recipe by Jacy Topps

Ingredients

  • Whipped vanilla frosting
  • Christmas color sprinkles or rainbow color, for rimming the glass
  • 2 ounces vanilla vodka
  • 1 ounce Irish cream (such as Baileys)
  • 1 ounce amaretto (such as Disaronno)
  • 2 ounces whole milk*
  • ½ tsp powdered sugar**

Directions

Pour the sprinkles into a shallow dish or saucer. Using a spatula, neatly spread the frosting along the rim of a martini glass. Dip the frosting-covered glass into the sprinkles. Set glass aside.

In a cocktail shaker, combine the vanilla vodka, Irish cream, milk, amaretto and ice. Close lid and shake for at least 20 seconds to mix and chill.

*You can use whatever milk you like, even a non-dairy option. Just keep in mind that this cocktail is designed to be rich, so if you choose a low- or non-fat milk, it won’t be as creamy or luscious.

**Optional. This increases the sweetness, so this ingredient can be omitted if desired.
